On February 10, 2023, a bombshell was dropped in the ongoing trial of the January 6th Capitol Proud Boys. Dominic Pezzola, one of the defendants, filed a motion for mistrial and requested the government's Exhibit 528-1 be struck on the grounds of outrageous government misconduct. Pezzola's legal team claims that the government itself authored the most incriminating document in the case, which was sent to Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio just before January 6.
